Here are the 6 reasons our clients work with us:
1- We help them take an overall look at your finances. We address any shortcomings in their financial life.
2- We build for them a balanced portfolio that depends on their personal goals, risk profile, time horizon, and preferences.
3- We use fundamental and technical analysis as well as our market experience in order to purchase and sell securities for our clients at a slight advantage. This practice often helps us outperform the general markets by a few percentage points. Although there is no guarantee and past performance gives indicative of future achievements, rest assure that we work hard to add value to any decisions we make for our clients.
4- We keep our clients abreast of what is going on in the financial markets and take our time to educate them.
5- We are always on the lookout for our clients regarding any new products or events that can help them financially.
6- We are straight forward with our clients regarding any fees they pay and make sure to avoid any conflicts of interests.
We offer several services including:
We will review your financial information by going through a questionnaire that will allow us to get to know you better and accurately identify your current financial situation.
The questionnaire also helps us to identify your goals and your specific needs and risk profile so that we can build a tailored financial plan for you. We will also help you open the right type of account for you and help you manage your funds.
we work with several major US brokerage companies including TD Ameritrade, Schwab, TIAA CREF, Vanguard. These companies will keep your assets in your name and provide you online access to your account. You may elect to receive emails whenever there is activity in your account. We have selected TD Ameritrade as our brokerage of choice, however you are free to choose any brokerage company you prefer.
You will get your monthly or quarterly statement in the mail or via email. You will have 24h online access to your monthly statements and financial informtion online. The statement from TD Ameritrade is color coded and easy to read. We will sit down with you and help you understand you first couple of statements and answer any questions you may have.
We do have your best interest at heart because when you are financially successful it benefits us. We depend on our clients to grow our business through referrals.
We do not advertise but spend our energy doing good work for our clients so that they advertise for us.
We do not have access to your portfolio and funds.
Your account will be open under your name and you and TD Ameritrade alone will have access to withdraw funds from it.
While you open the account, you will give permission to TD Ameritrade to withdraw our fees taken out quarterly when we send them a statement. TD Ameritrade usually verifies that the fees are reasonable before making the deduction from your account.
Otherwise, funds can move only in and out of account with your name, address, social security number opened with your signature. They can move out of your account only upon your written instructions.
Frauds such as those committed by Madoff are committed partly because he had custody of the assets. In general, it is our opinion that you can significantly reduce any risk of fraud by making sure of 3 things:
1- All your assets are kept in accounts in your name (or with your spouse) alone.
2- The company investing and managing your funds on your behalf (in this case "Us") and the company keeping, counting, and reporting to you (in this case"TD Ameritrade") are separate and cannot influence each other.
3- Review your statements at least quarterly or semi-annually.
This is the set up we offer our clients to assure them that there is no risk of any fraud or misappropriation of their funds.
If you have the same passion that we do have for money management and financial markets and have the time and dedication necessary to do it right, by all means, do it yourself.
We would love to exchange ideas so that we can learn from each other.
However, you may not have education, time, patience, or passion to keep up with the financial markets and make investment decisions all day. Hence it make sense for you to choose us as your financial advisor.
Also, because we work with several clients and partners, you get to benefit from the information we get from all of our clients.
For example, we can solve a problem for a client and have the solution readily available to you. Whereas if you wanted to solve the same problem by yourself, it may take you hours or days to do the research.
It just does not make sense for most people to be watching and managing their finances without professional help.
We focus on long term investments however we will help you if your specific need require that we invest your funds for the short term.
We will manage your accounts actively or rebalance your account as often as we deem necessary. We do not adhere to many Wall Street adages and strive to keep an independent outlook while managing your assets.
During the past 5 years, we have preferred to incorporate Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) into our clients' portfolio, because they are significantly less costly than mutual funds while offering the same level of diversification with better tax efficiency.
While we occasionally buy stocks for our clients, it is a rarity. We believe that stocks are very volatile and understand that it is very difficult to know what is really going on within any given company. As a result, we often use ETFs to diversify our clients' portfolios.
Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) offer the trading flexibility of a stock, with better tax efficiencies than a mutual fund.
For instance, you can buy and sell ETFs throughout the day in the same way you would with a stock while mutual funds allow you to get in or get out of them at the end of the day.
Furthermore, with ETFs, you pay taxes only when you sell them at a gain whereas with mutual funds you may have to pay taxes before you sell your position or worse after suffering losses while holding them. Finally ETFs are much cheaper than mutual funds.
Please call us to learn more about ETFs.
There is NO minimum necessary for us to build a financial plan for you. Everyone can benefit from a financial plan even if they want to start out investing only $50 a month. However, for long term money management services, we have a retainer fee of $250 per quarter per client. We will help people with less than $50,000 in assets build a financial plan that will help them grow their money. We will meet with these clients quarterly to review their investments.
We do have a contigency plan in case of a rare special circumstance like prolonged sickness, incapacity, death, or national emergency. Our custodians holding your assets (TD Ameritrade, TIAA CREF, Schwab, Vanguard, Fidelity, etc) also do have their own contigency plans. Also since your assets are under your name, you have access to them at all times.
